a picture of obama standing firm against john boehner and the negotiations. as the apparent requirement for resolution of major legislation approaches, and as it appears that even more rigid positions are being forecast for the next congress, it will take an unusually skillful second term president to deliver solutions to the financial problems facing the nation. if the task rests on the shoulders of barack obama, wilson would not compromise or will he be like eisenhower, reagan, clinton, and even washington to figure how to win against the odds. of course, to achieve the accommodation with congress, he would need a lyndon johnson, tip o'neill, a newt gingrich to leave the congress majority that would follow. so what specifically would i recommend obama do to attempt to avoid the challenges of the second term? primarily he should point in -- appointing a committee or with the skills of erskine bowles to work with congress on his legislative proposals. he should recommend a creative revision of the tax laws, the serious debt and debt reduction program. he should have congress enacted bud

. john's episcopal church in d.c. at 8:45. president obama will be sworn in a few hours later at 11:55 eastern. he'll give his presidential address at noon. then at 2:35 he'll leave the inaugural parade down pennsylvania avenue ultimately to the white house. and as far as crowds go, it is expected to be a more intimate affair this time around, if you can call it intimate, some 1.8 million people packed the national mall during president obama's first inauguration. today's crowd is expected to be about half that, 800,000 to 900,000 people. today's pomp and circumstance expected to be peaceful. the fbi says there are no credible corroborated threats to any of the inauguration activities. and a sense of renewed excitement and possibility for a first term, replaced with a sense of familiarity four years later. crowds not expected to be nearly as jam packed this time around. our own christi paul is on the national mall where people are starting to gather. organizers are expecting about half of turnout from 2009. i am simply shocked they are here this early. it's probably a very smart mov

with the biddens at st. john's episccapal in d.c. president obama actually began his second term in office yesterday. the presidential inaugurations always take place on january 20th. it fell on a sunday this year. a smaller ceremony marked the start yesterday with a larger one taking plates today. on sunday, president obama surrounded himself with just about a dozen family members and recited the 35-word oath of office in the blue room of the white house. chief justice john roberts administered the oath, and the president swore in on his wife's bible given to her mom on mother's day in 1958. afterwards, president obama gave his first public remarks of his second term and joked about a big talking pointed over the weekend. michelle obama's new bang. the president says he loves them calling it the most significant event of the weekend and says she looks good. she always looks good. today, we are expecting a much bigger crowd than what we saw yesterday, more than half a million people will be watching from the mall this morning with millions more on television

:40 this morning the obama family arrived at st. john's episcopal church right across from the white house. st. john's is known as the church of the presidents. it was 1933 when fdr began the morning of his first inauguration by arranging for a private service at st. john's. that starts a tradition for future presidents on inauguration day. later this morning at the inauguration itself, the benediction will be delivered by the recktor, as the spiritual leader. reverend luis leon was the most uncontroversial choice for the benediction, and that may be why he was chosen. the first choice stepped down because of anti-gay remarks he had made years ago until he was announced for this gig. today's service at st. john's for president obama ended after 9:35 a.m. the president and his family leaving the church traveling back to the white house. while we are talking about what has happened so far today, we should also point out that president obama already had a big day yesterday, too. when he took the official oath of office for his second term. that happened just before noon at the white house. the oa
